Stasha, the world's lightest nesting dinghy
Weighs the same as a baby bird!
Woodenwidget, already famous for a range of clever dinghy designs for
the spatially challenged have just launched the Stasha, the world's
lightest nesting dinghy. It really does weigh the same as a baby bird. A
Wandering Albatross chick weighs in at 10 kilos (22lbs), heavy for a
bird maybe but very light for a 7 foot dinghy.
It comes in two halves which makes it even easier to move about. The
rear section 'nests' inside the front section which makes it small
enough to be stowed on the deck of the smallest boats or put in the back
of the family car. It might be light but it is tough and versatile. It
can take an engine, you can row it or even sail it.
You can't buy a Stasha, you have to build it yourself. But don't let
that stop you. Woodenwidget have put a lot of effort into de-mystifying
boat building and have created simple illustrated plans that explain
every step, so that regardless of your level of experience you can build
a boat. The beauty of the Stasha is that you don't need much room to
build one and because there are so few materials in it's construction,
it can be built for just £200.
If this wasn't enough, Woodenwidget will plant a tree in Madagascar for
every set of plans sold. If you would like to learn more about this or
