My first boat was a ply on frame canoe kit built at age 12 (cost about $NZ 20 if my memory serves me well and sold for $60 at auction - dry rot and all, when my father sold his farm). At about the same age started rowing anything that came my way.
Started sailing on arrival in France and bought a 15' beach cat which I sailed intensively for three years before work got the upper hand. Sailed on several 18' Micro Class boats with friends.
I was involved with a glued lapstrake kit boat project and built the prototype and three other boats. Designed and built the canoe above in 2004. More on all that later in full articles with photos.
The editor has moved. After 29 years in Nantes we have moved to the southwest of France. I have never lived more than 50-60 km from the ocean in my whole life so this is a new experience. I will not be far from boats or the water, fear not! We have found a house a stones throw from the river you see in the photo here. Another advantage is that I hope to at last have the space to build our FL26.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have a story to publish here in these pages.
