Last autumn I visited the Jules Verne museum and wrote here about the lines drawing of his yacht the Saint Michel that caught my eye. Well it being the anniversary of his death a group of amateur builders is building a replica. A marine carpenter is supervising the work which is proceeding at the pace a group coming together on weekends and vacations is capable of maintaining. For this reason the frames are laminated - several projects have suffered because of frames warping during a build that took too long. Money is coming from donations so this will also limit the speed of the build.

Check back from time to time - I will visit the build site to keep you up to date.
