Canoe plan

Postby jem1983 » Tue Jul 27, 2010 10:28 pm

I am working on my first canoe and couldn't find a plan online that I really liked so I created my own. I would like to share my design and get input from builders with more experience than myself. The grids represent 6 inches except the drawing at the bottom that shows the frontal view (don't know what it is called). The middle seat will have a cooler enclosed in the center and a dry storage bins on either side. The plan has 18"x18" square for the cooler but if I can find a 12"x18" cooler I will rework it to provide 12"x18" dry storage compartments. This is designed to be a day trip canoe not designed to carry crew and gear. Also if someone knows how to calculate the capacity that would be awesome.

The advantage of using software is that the calculs are done automaticaly;.
I used Carene software free version. My canoe is 15' with a 4 panel bottom. It carries the family with no problems. That would be about 240 kg with the ice box full :D

Cheers
