:( My Console Skiff is for sale (SOLD)

Decided to sell the CS. I have posted it on a few fishing sites. Here is a link to one of them:

$4500.00

The hardest part of this is trying to determine the price. I wanted a price that would allow it to sell fairly quickly. Its kind of like selling a puppy. I want it to go to a good home more than I want big $$ for it. I also don't have room for it. As seen in another topic, I have purchased another boat. I will also have a friends boat in my yard for a couple of weeks as I help him with some restoration work on it.

It is amazing how words "home built" is a huge turn-off to those without knowledge of the topic.

It looks like it will be sold by next weekend. I have 2 people seriously looking at it. In case that falls through and you know of someone that might be interested, please pass on the info.

Thanks,
Dan

I hope you don't get away from building boats forever. I'm sure you'll get what you're asking having seen the boat first hand. I just wish I had the cash (and the space) for it.

No, I am not getting away from building boats. I will focus on building smaller efficient boats in the near term. I like the looks and idea of the Glen-L power yak. I don't necessary like the motor setup, but it would do. The recent pictures of Jacques' Swift Canoe look great too. Then again, my wife would like a little sail boat.

Long term, I would really like to build something like Jacques' NV23. However, I want to do it right. To me that would mean that I would have a large enough facilty to comfortably build. A nice barn or workshop out back would be awesome.

The funny thing is that I don't feel emotionally attached to the Console Skiff. I thought I would have a hard time parting with it, but that is not the case. I enjoyed building it, rigging it and I was fortunate enough to use it a lot in the last year and a half. It was a fish catching machine. In the back of my mind though, I was always sorry I didn't listen to my father and build something a little bigger.

Unlike most, I went to an older woman. Hmmm. There must be some deep meaning buried in this.

Not to worry, I don't think the new one will last much longer than the last.

Starting next week, I am helping a friend to refinish his 17' Whaler. I think it is a late 70s model. After this is done, it will be time to select something small to build over the winter.

Thanks Bill. I will be over it the first day I land a fish in the PY.

How much do you know about PY boats (if you now anything about it, you are ahead of me)? Its a serious question because I am struggling to find good information about the model that I have. Appearently, PY didn't make many of their outboard models on an annual basis. From the little that I have found, they delivered 1 or 2 outboard boats above 19' in a given year. From what I have seen, I am guessing that my boat is a 20' 5" PY Explorer Outboard.

I'm trying to find out about their hull construction, stringer construction, etc. From what I can tell, it is a heavy handlaid glass hull.

From what I have read, PY is most known for their tunnel drive systems. I had my first look at one of these yesterday. At a local "donate your boat to charity" place, I happened to see that they had a PY in the yard. I stopped to take a look at it. It looked like it was a 21 - 23 feet long cuddy cabin with the tunnel drive. It may have been the biggest (in terms of overall mass) boat of that length that I have ever seen. For those who have not seen these, all of the running gear (prop shaft, struts, prop and rudder) is 100% above the bottom of the hull in a long tunnel. That boat has to weigh a lot.

Matt: Any thoughts of designing something like the Glen-L Power Yak?
