TW28 House Adjustments

Postby Salty Dog » Thu May 11, 2006 7:06 pm

Greetings,

New to this forum, been at the other a while. We are planning to do the TW28, delayed our April start due to health. On the mend, have enjoyed Macca's tremendous tallent to his TW28. Similarly, I was also raised with this lean forward house design and will complete to this.

Have any actual line calculations been tossed to it yet? Whoever you are, you did a great job with an already great design by Jacques and co.

Cheers,

S.D.-

I'm forwarding to Michael who isn't on the forum yet. And I think Jacques might have something interesting to say.

Greetings Kiwi,

I would be very interested in the advancement of this adjustment. I am presuming that Michael is the hand involved. Nicely done.

A reply from Michael (he forgot his password... I'll fix that later)
Hello Salty Dog,

I know you as a very active user in maccas forum. As Tony said, please ask Jacques Mertens for any modification of the TW28. It's Jacques - wonderful - design and I only gave some new lines according to my own preferences. Jacques perhaps will offer some optional modifications for the TW28 in the future. I was searching a long time for the ideal (pocket) trawler. The TW28 is the only one, that fullfills all my requirements. As you can see, I am a fan of lean forward wheelhouse windows.

I saw in your message, that you are living in Bellingham. Last summer I traveled in the Vancouver area. One afternoon - after catching a big sockeye in the fraser river - I tried to cross the border to visit Sea Sport Inc. in Bellingham (www.seasportboats.com). I think you know the nice designs of their Pilot 2700 or Voyager 3000 - of course with lean forward windows ? Unfortunately they didn't let us in, because we hadn't machine readable passports for our childs.

Cheers Michael
Michael,

Yes, the best step forward is to find Jacques' thoughts on the house adjustments, as mentioned, it is an already very wonderful design but believe if this house option(s) were made available, it could nicely compliment TW28 plan and material sales.

I was born, raised and became old in Alaska, many of my years commercial fishing crab, drift, long line and set net in SE, SC, BB, CI, so these general trawler designs are an indelible part of my subconscious for shape, a lean forward house is what my mind sees as a more natural silhouette, living, fishing and boating where I have.

Unfortunately, boarder crossings from the lower mainland have become what they are, yes, very familiar with Seasport designs and lines, I like what they do, even from thier earlier years. You would have enjoyed a visit with the boys over there, good group.

Thank you for your responce on this topic, again, you did a great job on the concept drawings, something that I hope that Jacque and Co. would accept into the queue for those of us that see a wonderful design that could put an even broader smile on our faces when completed.

Cheers,

I'm working with Michael on supplying plans or at least sketches with scantlings for his modifications of the TW28.
They will be included as a free option in the standard set of plans.
I love the way he modified the boat's superstructure and see no problems with it.

Jacques,

To say I'm overjoyed would be an understatement. Great thanks to you.

Perhaps as you have a scantling throw, could we have a small peek?

This is tremendous news for me.

Cheers,
