Looking for a first time build

Postby kris » Wed Nov 07, 2007 11:57 pm

I am looking for a fast and challenging boat to sail. I am looking to get into boat building as a project with one of my friends. Does anyone have any suggestions on places to start looking.

Hi,

Are you going to race? Where do you live? (what will you be racing against)
Do you need the space for cruising too?

Then we will give you some ideas.

Cheers

I haven't done much racing as of yet but I would like to get into it. Mostly thistles and similar boats seem to race where I sail, also lasers or catamarans.

I sail in sail in Sandusky ohio on lake eire in the Sandusky bay. Wind is usually 5-15 kts.

If i were to have any accommodations on my boat it would be simply "camp style" i.e. weekends. It is more important for the boat to be challenging and fast than to have cruising accommodations of any sort.

One boat I have seen that I really like the style of is the i500.

I think that there are several people in Ohio - Great Lakes interested in the SB18 from bateau.com also.

Cheers
